Introduction
Ancient Greece is considered by most historians to be the cultural foundation of western civilization. It was immensely influential for the uses of their columns and arches. Greek architecture was built in a methodical order which makes it strong and last throughout the ages and was built based on the past-and-lintel system which is still used widely today. Because the Greeks had specific rules to build their buildings, they came up with five different orders. The five architectural orders are doric, ionic, corinthian, tuscan, and composite, three of which is still used today: doric, ionic, and corinthian.
